Program Objective: to encourage farmers to
convert erodable crop land or environmentally sensitive acreage to
vegetative cover such as grasses, trees, or riparian buffers
Type of Assistance Available: cost share/grant
for planting hardwoods or pines
Eligibility/Non-eligibility: private land owners
Amounts Available: 90% of the cost to plant
trees; one time signing incentive of $10 per acre for each year the
acreage is in the program
Matching Requirements: 10%

applications; it will be after June 22, 2002; elibility requirements
are expected to change after the 2002 Farm Bill is completed in

Restrictions: Eligible land is 180 feet of
acreage along streams planted in hardwood or marginal pasture land

strips, water structures, wildlife practices; tree planting
