Program Objective: Protect lives and property
threatened by natural disasters
Type of Assistance Available: cost share up to
75% of funds needed to restore natural function of a watershed
Eligibility/Non-eligibility: private land owners
are eligible; however, they must be "sponsored" by a city, county,
or unit of government
Amounts Available: up to 75% of the funds needed
to restore the natural function of a watershed
Matching Requirements: up to 25% by cash or
in-kind services

Comments: This program becomes effective upon an
officially declared emergency. Private land owners must apply
through a sponor such as a legal subdivision of state or local
government, including cities, counties, etc.
Examples of Programs Funded: 2000 Ice storms
were funded through this program to the Arkansas NRCS
Restrictions: requires a public sponsor
What can the funds be used for: examples include
removing debris, re-vegetating damaged areas, stabilizing roads,
culverts and bridges, etc.
